2021- A year that has remade me

2021 was a whirlwind year for me.

In January I was swept up by my dreams right out of an office cubicle. My wish had finally come true. I was going to be the lead in one of South Africa's biggest sitcoms "Ubettina Wethu".

I left my desk job and it's been a beautiful relentless journey since then finding myself engrossed in the life of being a working actor.

The remainder of the year saw me bounce from set to set seemingly getting luckier and luckier each time. I was privileged enough to be on the set of the incredible smash hit horror "Slumber Party Massacre" as well as appearing in cameos for some of South Africa's prestige shows such as the River and Durban General.

I even managed to get a few frustrated texts when I interrupted my friends' favourite YouTube videos when I was the face of a national advert.

Like most things, however it couldn't last forever. By the end of November I was burnt out mentally, physically and emotionally.

I had lost two friends. One to Covid. One to suicide.

And then I lost my maternal grandmother. Someone who I lauded as being a massive positive influence in my life.

I decided to take a few months off and recalibrate and reassess who and what I wanted to be.

In this time I have been connecting with my spirituality, ridding myself of negative narratives and vices and of course working on my craft and body.

As I write this I am on the set of a new Horror movie that will be set to spark South African screens come this spooky season.

2022 is going to be a year of dynamic change.

I ask that you join me for the ride.
